以小人之心，度君子之腹的典故

春秋时，有一年冬天，晋国有个梗阳人到官府告状，梗阳大夫魏戊无法判决，便把案子上报给了相国魏献子。这时，诉讼的一方把一些歌女和乐器送给魏献子，魏献子打算收下来。魏戊对阎没和女宽说：“主人以不受贿赂闻名于诸侯，如果收下梗阳人的女乐，就没有比这再大的贿赂了，您二位一定要劝谏”。阎没和女宽答应了。

退朝以后，阎没和女宽等候在庭院里。开饭的时候，魏献子让他们吃饭。等到摆上饭菜，这俩人却连连叹气。饭罢，魏献子请他们坐下，说：“我听我伯父说过：‘吃饭的时候忘记忧愁’，您二位在摆上饭菜的时候三次叹气，这是为什么？”阎没和女宽异口同声地说：“有人把酒赐给我们两个小人，昨天没有吃晚饭，刚见到饭菜时，恐怕不够吃，所以叹气。菜上了一半，我们就责备自己说：‘难道将军（魏献子兼中军元帅）让我们吃饭，饭菜会不够吗？’因此再次叹气。等到饭菜上齐了，愿意把小人的肚子作为君子的内心，刚刚满足就行了。”魏献子听了，觉得阎没和女宽是用这些话来劝自己不要受贿，就辞谢了梗阳人的贿赂。
