春秋时期，晋国国君晋景公得了重病，梦见体内有两个小孩，一个说名医来了快逃吧，一个则说躲到膏肓之间。秦桓公派名医缓前去为其治病，把好脉后摇头叹息说：“大王的病已经到了肓上面，膏下面，药力是无法到达的。”没过多久，晋景公就病死了。
