名正言顺的典故

春秋时期，子路问孔子：“卫君想请你帮他理政，您将先做什么？”孔子说：“先正名分。”子路说：“老师，您太迂腐了，名分有什么好正的？”孔子说：“你真鲁莽。名不正则言不顺，言不顺则事不成，事不成则教化不兴，教化不兴则刑罚不当，刑罚不当则老百姓不知所措。所以要先正名”。后以“名正言顺”谓作事理由正当而充分， 含有理直气壮的意思。
