春秋时期，秦武王力气很大，喜欢角斗，争强好胜。国内大力士任鄙、乌获、孟说等人均被他任命为达官显宦，经常进行决斗比赛。有一次，秦武王与孟说打赌谁能举起殿前的大鼎，孟说不行。秦武王亲自举鼎，结果折断膝盖骨而死。
