唐朝监察御史娄师德率军抗击吐蕃进攻，八战八捷，深得武则天的器重，提拔为宰相。他为人处世宽宏大量，他问即将出任代州刺史的弟弟如何对待别人挑衅，弟弟说即使别人吐唾沫到脸上自己擦掉就行了，而他坚持要让唾沫自己干。
