猛志常在的典故

炎帝的小女儿在东海游泳时不幸淹死了。她死后变成了叫精卫的鸟，常常从远隔千里的西山衔来木石，投到东海里，想把它填平。《山海经•海外西经》中讲：刑天与黄帝争天下，最后被砍了头，扔到常羊山。刑天没了头，就把自己的乳头变成眼睛，把肚脐变成嘴，挥舞着盾牌和斧子，要和黄帝继续战斗。

晋代诗人陶渊明写道：“精卫衔来小树枝想填平东海，刑天死了还挥舞着盾牌和斧子，他们的雄心壮志真是可歌可泣。”
