比肩继踵的典故

春秋时期，齐国大夫晏婴奉命出使楚国，楚王见他矮小就说齐国无人才派他来。晏婴回答说：“齐国都城临淄有3万户人家，可以挥汗成雨，大街上行人比肩继踵，热闹非凡。”巧妙地应对楚王。楚王刮目相看，改用高规格接待他。
