瑚琏之器的典故

春秋时期，孔子的弟子子贡原是卫国的商人，姓端木名赐，他因为有钱，经常穿华丽的服饰，孔子看不惯他的新潮，说他为君子不器。他沾沾自喜，他问孔子自己是什么器，孔子随意说是瑚琏之器。子贡更加飘飘然，不知孔子在说他内心空虚。
