三国时期，蜀主刘备死后，昏庸无能的阿斗继位，他只知享乐，把国内的军政大权交给诸葛亮处理。诸葛亮一面联吴伐魏，南征孟获，积极准备两次北伐，在最后一次北伐前夕给阿斗写《后出师表》表示自己为国鞠躬尽瘁、死而后已。
