千载难逢的典故

唐朝时期，宪宗皇帝非常信佛，有一次他准备把一个寺院里的一块释迦牟尼的遗骨弄到宫里来。韩愈当时是刑部侍郎，他觉得唐宪宗这样做非常不好，于是他上了《谏迎佛骨表》的奏章表示反对。唐宪宗看了奏章后恼羞成怒气得想置韩愈于死地。幸好宰相极力说情最后韩愈被贬到潮州去当刺史。

后来唐宪宗对前朝的一些不好的政策进行了改革，在国家治理方面取得了积极的成效，这时侯韩愈又写了奏章《潮州刺史谢上表》，恭维宪宗皇帝是个明主，还建议宪宗皇帝到泰山去做封禅大典，以此表明自已认为宪宗皇帝是位杰出帝王的态度。韩愈在表中还透露出自已很想参加这样千载难逢的封禅典礼的心理，失去这样的机会将会是遗憾终生。

宪宗皇帝认为韩愈是个敢讲敢说的人，后来他又把韩愈调回了京城任吏部侍郎一职。
