春秋时期，楚庄王率军攻打郑国，郑国派大夫皇戍到晋国求援，并称楚人很骄傲，现在出兵可以大败楚军。下军副将栾书极力反对，说楚王灭庸以后经常教育百姓不要忘记楚国先君若敖开创基业时筚路蓝缕的生活。晋国出兵，结果被楚军打败。
