瓜田李下的成语故事

拼音guā tián lǐ xià

基本解释经过瓜田时不要弯腰提鞋跟；走过李子树下不要举手整理帽子；免得有偷瓜、偷李子的嫌疑。比喻容易发生嫌疑的地方。

出处晋 干宝《搜神记》第15卷：“惧获瓜田李下之讥。”

瓜田李下的典故

唐朝唐文宗时，大书法家柳公权忠良耿直，能言善谏，官职是工部侍郎。当时有个叫郭宁的官员把两个女儿送进宫中，于是皇帝就派郭宁到邮宁（现在的陕西邮县）做官，人们对这件事议论纷纷。皇帝就以这件事来问柳公权：“郭宁是太皇太后的继父，官封大将军，当官以来没有什么过失，现在只让他当邮宁这个小小地方的主官，又有什么不妥呢？”柳公权说：“议论的人都以为郭宁是因为进献两个女儿入宫，才得到这个官职的。”唐文宗说：“郭宁的两个女儿是进宫陪太后的，并不是献给朕的。”柳公权回答：“瓜田李下的嫌疑，人们哪能都分辨得清呢？”

“瓜田李下”是从古乐府《君子行》中的诗句“瓜田不纳履，李下不整冠”引申来的。这里柳公权是比喻皇帝的做法很容易让人产生怀疑。
