秦朝末年，各地农民纷纷起义，武臣率军进入赵地称赵王，他派部将韩广率军进入燕地，韩广称燕王。武臣大怒，就率部将张耳、陈余进攻燕地。武臣被俘。张耳、陈余设法营救未果。侍卒对韩广说张耳他们左提右挈想称王。韩广只好放了武臣。
