无为人，字次公，自号无为子。仁宗嘉祐四年进士。神宗元丰中官太常，凡礼乐之事皆预讨论。与范镇议乐有异，多攻之。哲宗元祐中为礼部员外郎，出知润州，除两浙提点刑狱。卒年七十。有《无为集》、《乐记》。
