汪性情雅逸，最喜交游天下名士，郑板桥、黄慎、罗聘、金农、李鱓、袁枚、秦上士等名流与之交往甚密，常至文园行文酒之会，留下了许多诗篇与书画。他本人除了《甲戌春吟》、《文园集》等多种著作外，还广征诗稿，网罗乡献，辑成《东皋诗存》48卷，于乾隆三十一年（1766）刻板印行。
