江苏江阴人，字景龙，1923年生。1945年无锡国学专修学校沪校毕业。1948年上海交通大学电机工程系毕业，留校工作，1988年退休，职称编审。长期从事科技翻译，通英、法、德、日、俄五国语言。出版英、俄文著作中译本三十余种。同时致力于中国传统文学研究和创作，为《绝妙好联赏析辞典》副主编。中华吟诵学会专家。著有《雕虫十二年》等。吴语地区吟诵代表人物，“唐调”传人，亦可使用普通话吟诵，中华吟诵学会专家委员会委员。上海交通大学教授，翻译家，诗人，吟诵家。铁线篆圣手陈季鸣之子。
