许家惺（1873-1925），字默斋，号东雷，浙江上虞人。出自书香门第，幼承家学，媕雅善诗文。屡次乡试落第，遂绝意科举，毕生从事自谓之“佣笔”事。前后任新闻报，中外日报之编撰及主笔。翻译出版西方的科普读本以及女子读本。家族后人辑有《许东雷诗存》。
