正统四年（1439）进士，授刑科给事中，弹劾持大体，不讦人私。累官山西布政司右参政，兴学重教，有“教人与治人不同，贵在随材成就，毋强以文辞”之语。年六十致仕，吏材精敏，政绩颇著，卒年七十九。精于书画诗文，著有《侗轩集》。
