我有烟霞癖，兼好太古琴。只为丝桐响，中含太古音。
今来抛掷久，结习固已深。骑驴白塔村，兰若共登临。
一邱兼一壑，旷我遗世心。人言村西舍，旧时州别驾。
今为士庶门，有琴罕匹亚。惜无知音者，代远恐物谢。
闻言呼僮仆，往步村西麓。恍如高士居，亭榭有松菊。
问琴犹宛在，挥麈启韫椟。清风飒飒来，遥闻响林木。
七弦虽未安，髹采若绮縠。试弄三两声，满堂如空谷。
携之到山中，怡然百虑融。老僧环阶听，柱杖倚雕栊。
一弹还再鼓，万壑生秋风。初疑掷金石，清商发孤桐。
又如云中响，嘹唳起哀鸿。我怀殊默默，我意转恻恻。
如何大雅音，遗置涧阿侧。不入中郎听，良材悲屈抑。
世无广陵散，人琴长叹息。水有时而清，石有时而泐。
吁嗟千载后，清徽谁拂拭？

牛焘（1794～1861）字涵万，丽江人，拔贡生，历任镇沅、安宁、邓川、罗平教官，有《寄秋轩稿》，家饶于赀而标寄萧然，蓄一雷氏琴，自谱新曲被之弦轸，同时马之龙能吹铁笛，郡中有“牛琴马笛”之目。咸、同之乱，焘避之山洞中，抱琴而死。剑川赵藩辑其诗七十余首刊入《丽郡诗征》中。
