美舌甜唇觜，谄曲心钩加。终日礼道场，持经置功课。
炉烧神佛香，打钟高声和。六时学客舂，昼夜不得卧。
只为爱钱财，心中不脱洒。见他高道人，却嫌诽谤骂。
驴屎比麝香，苦哉佛陀耶。又见出家儿，有力及无力。
上上高节者，鬼神钦道德。君王分辇坐，诸侯拜迎逆。
堪为世福田，世人须保惜。下下低愚者，诈现多求觅。
浊滥即可知，愚痴爱财色。著却福田衣，种田讨衣食。
作债税牛犁，为事不忠直。朝朝行弊恶，往往痛臀脊。
不解善思量，地狱苦无极。一朝著病缠，三年卧床席。
亦有真佛性，翻作无明贼。南无佛陀耶，远远求弥勒。

寒山（生卒年不详），字、号均不详，唐代长安（今陕西西安）人。出身于官宦人家，多次投考不第，后出家，三十岁后隐居于浙东天台山，享年一百多岁。严振非《寒山子身世考》中更以《北史》、《隋书》等大量史料与寒山诗相印证，指出寒山乃为隋皇室后裔杨瓒之子杨温，因遭皇室内的妒忌与排挤及佛教思想影响而遁入空门，隐于天台山寒岩。这位富有神话色彩的唐代诗人，曾经一度被世人冷落，然而随着二十世纪的到来，其诗却越来越多地被世人接受并广泛流传。正如其诗所写：“有人笑我诗，我诗合典雅。不烦郑氏笺，岂用毛公解。”
