唐代河中人。诗人。姚系为大唐贤相梁国文贞公姚崇的曾孙。其家族陕郡姚氏已成为当时很有名望的郡族，地位极高，名重于时。姚系于贞元元年（785）登进士第。姚系一生与同时期的诗人韦应物交情颇深。他们一直相互交往，又经常结伴同游天下。姚系生性豪爽风流，尤喜饮酒题诗，常常聚集文雅好友一起讨论文学诗赋。姚系留传诗仅十首。
