孟贯（约公元九五七年前后在世）字一之，建安人。（唐才子传作闽中人。此从全唐诗）生卒年均不详，约周世宗显德中前后在世。客居江南。性疏野，不以荣宦为意。周世宗至广陵贯时大有诗名，世宗亦闻之。贯录诗一卷献上，首篇有云：“不伐有巢树，多移无主花。”世宗不悦道：“朕伐叛引民，何得‘有巢'无主’之说。幸硬骨头朕，若他人则必不免。”遂不终卷。赐进士而不授官。后不知所终。贯著有诗集《唐才子传》传世。
