广东新会人，字彦晦，号陶陶生、秫坡。元末从孙蕡学。为人坦荡不羁，以诗酒自放。洪武初，署本县训导。坐事戍辽东。时孙蕡亦戍辽东，坐蓝玉党被杀，为敛葬之。历十八年，放还。卒年五十九。有《秫坡集》、《古今一览》。
