山东淄川人，字历友，号厚斋。康熙二十五年拔贡生。为施闰章所赏识。荐鸿博，力辞不就。后受学使荐为山东明经第一，赴京应试，下第。回乡隐居，闭门著书。诗以盛唐为宗，歌行尤为擅场。有《八代诗选》、《昆仑山房集》等。
