宋宁国府宣城人，字明用。自少隐居土山，好学工文词。太宗太平兴国间进士。历官屯田员外郎，判户部度支，岁计羡余，奏免诸道供输一年。寻谪外。真宗大中祥符末起判三司，乞便郡，出知本州，政崇简易，讼狱大省，在郡二年罢。仁宗即位，起知江阴军，数月卒。有《仙都集》。
