1886-1938年，原名有忭，字季仁；后名怀琛，字寄尘。安徽泾县人。30年代寓亚尔培路步高里(今陕西南路287弄)。自幼习诗，厌科举。清光绪二十四年(1898年)游学上海，后任《神州日报》编辑。清宣统二年(1910年)，加入南社。与柳亚子共主《警报》、《太平洋报》笔政，并相交相知，义结金兰。其对新旧体诗歌和儿童诗歌均有成就，所评“宋诗如西洋油画，善刻划；唐诗如中国水墨山水，善写意”，被学术界视为公论。著有《大江集》、《新诗概说》、《中国文学史概要》、《国学概论》、《南社始末》等。
