眉州人，字唐英，世称莲峰先生。高宗绍兴二十七年进士。少以《古乐府》、《洪范》等论往见张浚，浚谓其大类苏轼。年十四举于乡，赴鹿鸣宴犹著粉红裤，人疑其文未工，太守命赋诗，尧弼援笔立就。未授官而卒。有《莲峰集》。
