号紫岩，婺源（今属江西）人。嘉熙三年（1239）生。咸淳二年（1266），中亚选，入元不仕。至顺元年（1330）卒，年九十二。有《紫岩集》，已佚。事见《新安文献志》卷八七《紫岩先生汪公宗臣行状》。今存诗十三首，《全宋词》录其词4首。
