载，字厚子，家贫，客梁、宋间，困甚，以诗投襄阳节度使邢君牙云：“西风昨夜坠红兰，一宿邮亭事万般。无地可耕归不得，有思堪报死何难。流年怕老看将老，百计求安未得安。一卷新诗满怀泪，频来门馆诉饥寒。”君牙怜之，赠绢十匹，荐于郑滑节度使，不行。乾宁五年，礼部侍郎裴贽知贡举，君牙之荐之，遂擢第。文德中，刘子长出镇浙西，行次江西，时陆威侍郎犹为郎吏，亦寓于此。载缄二轴投谒，误以子长之卷画贽于威，威览之，连见数字触家讳，威矍然，载错愕，白以大误。寻谢以长笺，略曰：“曹兴之图画虽精，终惭误笔；殷浩之兢持太过，翻达空函。”威激赏而终不能引拔，后竟流落而卒。集三卷，今传。
