号默希子，钱塘(今浙江杭州)天目山人。道士，通儒学，无意于名利。居天台山云盖峰虎头岩石室中10余年，日以修炼自乐。武宗会昌初，诏浙东观察使召之，乃献诗自陈，终不赴。后绝粒而卒，年82岁。事迹见《历世真仙体道通鉴》卷四〇、《三洞群仙录》卷六。著作今存《通玄真经注》12卷，收入《正统道藏》；《天台山记》1卷，有《古逸丛书》本。《全唐诗》存诗3首。
