王无竞(652——705)，字仲烈，排行第二，初唐诗人。其祖先为琅邪人，因官迁徙居于东莱(今山东莱州)，宋太尉弘之十一代孙。父亲王侃，曾为棣州司马。唐高宗仪风二年(677年)，应下笔成章举及第，自此解褐，授赵州栾城县尉，历官秘书省正字，转右武卫仓曹、洛阳县尉，迁监察御史，转殿中侍御史。武后长安四年(704年)因弹劾宰相宗楚客、杨再思殿前失仪，宗楚客等大怒，转为太子舍人，旋即贬苏州司马。唐中宗神龙元年(705年)，张易之等败，又坐与其交往，再贬岭外，在广州，被仇家矫制搒杀之，年五十四。
