张仲方，韶州始兴人。祖九皋，广州刺史、殿中监、岭南节度使。父抗，赠右仆射。仲方伯祖始兴文献公九龄，开元朝名相。仲方，贞元中进士擢第，宏辞登科，释褐集贤校理，丁母忧免。服阕，补秘书省正字，调授咸阳尉。出为邠州从事，入朝历侍御史、仓部员外郎。
