生卒年不详。字介石，庐江(今属安徽)人。性朴野，有异术，多谈神仙之事。适意往来，行踪不定。或寓庐山白鹿洞，或居茅山，或游九华山。早年尝以时事干南唐李氏，以其狂戆，不为所用，遂拂衣归隐。中主保大时，以异人召，不至。宋太平兴国九年(984)，自茅山再游庐山。后不知所终。生平见马令《南唐书》本传、《诗话总龟》卷四四、《十国春秋》本传。坚能诗，常于佛寺道观行吟自若。其《题幽栖观》、《游溧阳下山寺》等诗尤有名。《全唐诗》卷七五七、八六一两见，存诗6首、断句2联。《全唐诗外编》及《全唐诗续拾》补诗4首。
