之谦，字益甫，云中应人。幼知力学，早擢巍科。既而与元好问同掾东曹，机务倥偬，商订文字，未尝少辍。北渡后，居平阳者三十馀年，与诸生讲学，一以伊洛为宗，众翕然从之，文风为之一变。所著古文杂诗仅三百首，曰《兑斋文集》。汲郡王恽序之曰：先生之作，其析理知言，择之精，语之详，浑涵经旨，深尚体之工；刊落陈言，及自得之趣。而又抑扬有法，丰约得所。可谓常而知变，醇而不杂者也。
