译文
宁可少活十年，也不可一日没有权。大丈夫时运不顺，命途多艰。有朝一日如果天随人愿，一定要赛过田文养客三千。
注释
天净沙：又名塞上秋，属于越调宫曲调。体段短小，宜即兴抒情。
时乖命蹇：时运不顺，命运不好。乖，相背；不合。蹇，不顺利。
田文：即孟尝君，战国时齐国贵族，以好客重人才著称，门下食客数千人。
天净沙·宁可少活十年创作背景
该曲创作时间约在1261年至1293年间。

严忠济(?— — 1293)，一名忠翰，字紫芝。长清（今属山东省）人。严实之子。元太宗时袭父职为东平路行军万户。从元世祖攻宋，有战功。至元二十 三年（一二八六）授中书左丞， 行江浙省事。其人仪表不凡，长于骑射，袭父职任东平路行军万户。元世祖忽必烈攻宋，忠济奉诏率兵进军，所战多捷。人千其威权太盛，被召还京。他治理东平时，让当地豪绅代属下和百姓缴纳所欠赋税。卸职后，豪绅们向他讨债，忽必烈听后为他偿还。至元二十三年，特授资德大夫中书左丞行浙江省事。因年老，辞不就。能曲，明·朱权《太和正音谱》将其列于"词林英杰"一百五十人之中。《金元散曲》录存其小令二首。
