译文
深深的院子，一道又一道的门帘遮掩，她在什么地方呢？宴会散了，花凋谢了，蜂蝶因无花可采而忙乱。今天晚上是谁在等着心上人来相见，在往日约会相见之处等待那个女子到来，红杏矮墙还在，却不见心上人到来。
这种秘密的约会不敢使旁人知道，但由于心虚胆怯，容易脸红，往往旁人发觉，到处被人猜疑防范。得到的是一点恋爱的喜悦，付出的代价是无限凄凉的。好事若是顺利如意，不逢到阻碍，那么，约会相见的喜悦也就平淡无奇了。同是爱情中的滋味，其中特别香美的，除非是偷着尝。
注释
雨中花慢：词牌名。双调慢词。有平韵格和仄韵格两体。平韵格，始自苏轼；仄韵格，始自秦观。该词用平韵格。
邃（suì）院：深院。重帘：一道又一道的门帘。
多情：多情之人，此处指张生。
酒阑：酒筵将散。
低墙：矮墙。
羞颜易变：由于害羞，容易睑红。
被着猜防：受到别人的猜疑、提防。被：蒙受，受到。
些儿：片刻，一小会儿。
好事：美好的事，指恋爱。
间阻：阻隔。
就中：其中。

宋神宗元丰元年（1078年）正月，苏轼在徐州收到友人章楶寄赐的崔徽画像，联想到唐代传奇小说《莺莺传》有感而发，作该词歌咏《莺莺传》中崔莺莺和张生的爱情故事。

雨中花慢·邃院重帘何处鉴赏
上片写张生相思与赴约。前五句，写张生相思无奈的心态。第一次见到莺莺时，张生就为莺莺“颜色艳异，光辉动人”所震惊，这就是他稍后对红娘吐露的“昨日一席间，几不自持”这一实心话的内情。作者将这一情节略去，直接写张生见过莺莺后所产生的浓浓的相思之情。“邃院重帘”，暗指莺莺住处；“何处”，是作者询问，因为对张生来说，莺莺的住处是咫尺天涯，可望而不可及。其所以如此，是由于当时两情未通，在他们之间，还远隔着礼教的大防。这一问，既表示了作者的关切，又唤起了读者的注意。果然，张生正处于相思难熬的时刻：“惹得多情，愁对风光。”一个“惹”字写出了莺莺的美色所产生的巨大的诱惑力。这里的“多情”原是相思以至痴情的同义语，作者写这一词语，褒贬之义分明。“风光”是供人观赏、引人喜爱的，张生以“愁”面对它：这是以乐景写忧情，可以收到双倍的艺术效果。紧接着，又通过张生的行为、生活环境以及张生眼中的景物，来透视张生的心态。由“睡起”说明张生的懒散，由“酒阑花谢”说明张生的苦闷，由“蝶乱蜂忙”说明张生的的百无聊赖和寂寞难耐（是一笔反衬）。后六句，写西厢约会以及张生急切期盼的心情。“今夜何人”，又作一设问，引起对张生赴约情事的叙写。“吹笙”句运用神话典故（也是一种美化），暗示张生与对方有约；“待月西厢”，则运用《莺莺传》中莺莺诗的现成语辞，明点男女约会之事，使全词歌咏崔、张爱情的主旨更加显豁。“空怅望处”三句，写张生将到西厢只见景物而不见伊人时焦躁乃至失望的心理，着一“空”字便曲曲传出。“一株红杏”是一种特征性景物，是《莺莺传》中所写到的，用来烘托旖旎风情，也恰到好处。
下片写张生恋爱生活中的波折、苦涩以及幽会偷期的喜慰之情。换头“羞颜易变”三句，作一转折，写莺莺突然变卦，不但未接纳张生，反而严加指责，拒之甚坚。《莺莺传》中写张生先是半惊半喜，以为事必有成，待莺莺一番训斥，迅即离去之后，不禁目瞪口呆，怅然若失。这太出乎张生的意料之外，使张生无法理解。本来“待月西厢”的诗简是莺莺所写，莺莺却忽然翻脸不认人。原因是莺莺从小接受了封建礼教，尽管一时动了真情，爱上了张生，甚至以诗简主动约会，显示了莺莺初步的叛逆性，但在思想深处仍有着“情”与“礼”的矛盾，在莺莺的面前仍有难以逾越的礼教的大防。再则，莺莺当时对红娘还不摸底，唯恐红娘向夫人告发。这对莺莺固然是痛苦的事，对张生伤害就更大。以下“谁信道”三句，写张生所感受到的极其苦涩的滋味，是张生的内心独白（也可以看作是作者的评述）。随后“好事若无间阻”三句，有好事多磨之意，再作一转折，似可看成作者作为旁观者对张生的宽慰之辞。篇末“一般滋味”三句，承前“幽欢”二字，写张生与莺莺终于背着夫人而幽会西厢，也道出了张生甘苦备尝之后的深层心理。
全词强化了叙事性，用第三人称的视角，将传奇小说《莺莺传》中有关情节演化成了小叙事词，具有一定的抒情色彩。作者没有作纯客观的叙述，而是表达了对张生和莺莺的命运满怀关切和同情。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
