水池上到处漂着落花柳絮，春天到哪里去了？孤寂的旅馆内悄无人声，梦中的我正行走在洒满月光的湖堤上，突然梦断人醒。伤心至极，只好坐听窗外五更时分的风雨。

如梦令·池上春归何处鉴赏
词的开篇两句是作者对春去的叹息。“池上”一问横空而来，充满了惋惜、无奈和迷惘。接着作者描写漫天的“落花飞絮”，背景也正是在“池上”。这些漫天的落花飞絮，飘洒下来，纷纷扬扬，坠落往池面上，随水流逝。而对这样一幕场景，滴居、漂泊多年的秦观，内心自然会涌起无限的春愁。这种“春愁”，不再是某些婉约词人所抒写的闲愁，此时在他心中的”春愁”，不仅有对岁月流逝的哀叹，更有对功业无成而生命渐渐走到尽又的无限悲凉。“孤馆”“梦断”二句，正是表现这种悲凉。“梦断”二字点明开篇两句描写的景象是作者从梦中醒来时一瞬间的所见。从下文还可以知道，作者醒来时才刚刚“五更”，天方微亮，“悄无人”正符合此时的场景。词人从“月堤归路”这一重回故乡的美梦中醒来，发现自己仍旧是在“孤馆”之中，身边没有亲人也没有朋友。放眼望去，屋外一派春去的落莫，此情此景，引发作者无穷的哀伤。
于是词人孤寂地坐着，静静地感受着哀伤，”无绪，无绪”四个字，把这种哀伤如吟唱一般地表达出来。“无绪”是“无奈”，是“无计”，是“无情”，是“无聊”，种种复杂的感情都包容在这两句简单叹息之中。宋代胡仔《苕溪渔隐丛话》后集卷三九：“东坡言《如梦令》曲名，本唐庄宗制。一名《忆仙姿》。嫌其不雅。改名《如梦令》。庄宗作此词．卒章云‘如梦，如梦，和泪出门相送。’取以为之名。”《如梦令》这一词调的命名，正是因为下阕这两句，因此词家用这一词调时，往往在这两句上费尽心机，比如李清照《如梦令·昨夜雨疏风骤》用“知否，知否”，形象地写出疑问与感伤的语气，为人所激赏。秦观的《如梦令·遥夜沉沉如水》作“无寐，无寐”，非常警醒、精练。而此词中，“无绪，无绪”同样极为含蓄深沉，丝毫不逊于前人后人。
“帘外五更风雨”具有象征意义。作者在美梦破碎之后心绪不宁，听着帘外的风雨，预感到更坏的厄运将要到来。全同以此作结，显得极为绝望，可见这一时期秦观的思想。这一句同时也交代了整首词发生的时间、背景，读者因此可以知道，上文所描写的“落花飞絮”等场景，都是在五更时候，都是在风雨之中，更添一份落寞悲凉。

秦观（1049-1100）字太虚，又字少游，别号邗沟居士，世称淮海先生。汉族，北宋高邮（今江苏）人，官至太学博士，国史馆编修。秦观一 生坎坷，所写诗词，高古沉重，寄托身世，感人至深。秦观生前行踪所至之处，多有遗迹。如浙江杭州的秦少游祠，丽水的秦少游塑像、淮海先生祠、莺花亭；青田的秦学士祠；湖南郴州三绝碑；广西横县的海棠亭、醉乡亭、淮海堂、淮海书院等。秦观墓在无锡惠山之北粲山上，墓碑上书“秦龙图墓”几个大字。有秦家村、秦家大院以及省级文物保护单位古文游台。
