译文
一对鸂鶒鸟儿，身上披拂着灿烂的金色花纹，翘起它们那双翠绿的尾巴，在春水溶溶、碧绿滢滢的池面上，掀起了层层的水纹。岸边海棠花开，一阵潇潇春雨过后，天放晴了，红花满枝，滴着清亮的水珠儿，更加艳丽。
一位美丽的少女，乍出现在一个心有所悦但却陌生的男人面前。不由自主地抿嘴一笑，却露出了那一对可爱的酒窝儿于是她赶紧用绣衫遮住了，恰如飞蝶迷恋于阳春烟景。华贵之家，芳菲时节，景物依旧，可是，当日春游之人，今已远戍边塞，而且连个信儿都没有！
注释
菩萨蛮：唐教坊曲，后用为词牌。亦作“菩萨鬘”，“子夜歌”“重叠金”等。双调四十四字，前后阕均两仄韵转两平韵。
翠翘：翠绿色的尾羽。金缕：金色羽毛。鸂（xī）鶒（chì）：水鸟，似鸳鸯而比鸳鸯略大，多紫色，喜雌雄并游，又名紫鸳鸯。
海棠梨：又名海红、甘棠，二月开红花，八月果熟。一说就是海棠花，又一说即棠梨。
靥（yè）：笑时面颊上的酒窝。
青琐：刷青漆且雕镂有连琐纹的窗户，泛指华美的窗户。此处借指华贵之家。芳菲：泛指花草树木，谓美好时节。周祈《名义考》云：“青琐，即今之门有壳隔者，刻镂为连琐文也。以青涂之，故曰青琐。”
玉关：即玉门关，在今甘肃敦煌西北，隋唐时的遗址大约在今甘肃安西县城东50公里处的疏勒河岸双塔堡附近。
菩萨蛮·翠翘金缕双鸂鶒创作背景
此词约作于唐大中（847—860）年间。《乐府纪闻》记载此事云：“令狐綯假温庭筠手撰二十阕以进。”据此，《菩萨蛮》诸阕乃温庭筠所撰而由令狐绹进献唐宣宗之作。其时当在大中后期（850—859），正值温庭筠屡试不第之时。

菩萨蛮·翠翘金缕双鸂鶒鉴赏
此词上阕描写了一个春色满园、生意盎然而又充满着无限幽情的环境。鸂鶒，是如鸳鸯一样成双成对儿的象征爱情的鸟。有说：“此以鸂鶒之成双，喻闺人之独处。”从全词看，并非如此。这两句写景极其鲜艳，而暗含着欢情，是人眼中之所见。景物本身是令人赏心悦目的。下两句把满园春色的景物由动物而到植物，由水面而到池上。这两句的关键在“雨晴红满枝”。如丝的春雨飘洒之后，天色初晴，不仅没有落红满地，而是“红满枝”。有“春色满园关不住”的感觉。如果如苏东坡所说“能道得眼前真景，便是佳句”（钱泳《履园谭诗》），上阕的四句正是这样。它由美丽成双、金缕其身、翠绿其尾的鸂鶒鸟，而到它们在春池中掀起粼粼水纹，两情欢洽；再由池及岸，树上棠梨花开，雨后新晴，红花满枝；景色幽美，气象清新。布局有动（前二句）有静（后二句），设色有浓（一、四句）有淡（二、三句）。陈匪石称温词《菩萨蛮》“语语是景，语语即是情”（《旧时月色斋词谭》）。从这四句看，正是用此明媚春光、佳景良辰，来衬托人情的欢愉。因为“言情之词，必藉景色映托，乃具深宛流美之致”（吴衡照《莲子居词话》）。此处的着力写景为下阕的意味浓醇奠定基础。
“绣衫遮笑靥，烟草粘飞蝶”。至此，才出现了人物。她红润的两腮上，有一对酒窝儿。写一个少女的娇羞，既有形，又有神；既有动作，又有对动作的掩饰;既有乍见时的内心欢悦，又有猛然引起的内心慌乱，这五个字形神兼备地写出了少女那颗欢悦却又不平静的心。沈祥龙《论词随笔》提出：“词有三要，曰情，曰韵，曰气。情欲其缠绵，其失也靡。韵欲其飘逸，其失也轻。气欲其动宕，其失也放。”这句表现情，确很“缠绵”，但是不“靡”；表现韵（味），确很飘逸，但是不“轻”（浮）；表现气（声气），确很“动宕”，但是不“放”（荡）。从词的结构说，这句是全首的关键。
接下来的一句又很警策：“烟草粘飞蝶。’“烟草”，总起来说是阳春烟景，即上阕那绿波荡漾的春水，那缀满枝头的棠梨。在“烟草”与“飞蝶”之间，用了一个“粘”字，可见“飞蝶”之于“烟草”十分迷恋。五、六句联起来看，上句深情无限，下句景色如画。但下句是比托衬映上句的，这“绣衫遮笑靥”的人的深情远韵，恰如飞蝶恋恋于烟草。正是“情以景幽”，“景以情妍”。
俞平伯释首句为少女的妆饰，因而说“绣衫”句“乃承上‘翠翘’句”（见《读词偶得》）。也有人认为“绣衫”两句不过写女人的衣饰精致华丽而已。而艾治平认为“绣衫”两句仍紧承上阕，继续写人情之欢愉，所不同的是：上阕情隐景中，下阕首二句，人则从后台走到了前台来，而以真实的描绘直写她的欢愉之情。上下阕之间，“意脉不断”，六句全是写她昔时两情初遇那令人难忘的良辰美景和自己的情意绵绵。可是此时都如过眼烟云，虽可追怀却不可复得了。
“青琐对芳菲，玉关音信稀”。这句是说，富贵之家，芳菲时节，景物依旧，可是，“玉关音信稀”，当日春游之人，此时已远戍边塞，而且连个信儿都没有。
这首闺情词，艺术手法颇有独到之处，而且“神理超越，不复可以迹象求矣；然细绎之，正字字有脉络”（周济《介存斋论词杂著》）。针缕细密，间不容发，其“昔欢今悲”之感，如“杳霭流玉，悠悠花香”（司空图《诗品·委曲》）透人心脾。

温庭筠（约812—866）唐代诗人、词人。本名岐，字飞卿，太原祁（今山西祁县东南）人。富有天才，文思敏捷，每入试，押官韵，八叉手而成八韵，所以也有“温八叉”之称。然恃才不羁，又好讥刺权贵，多犯忌讳，取憎于时，故屡举进士不第，长被贬抑，终生不得志。官终国子助教。精通音律。工诗，与李商隐齐名，时称“温李”。其诗辞藻华丽，秾艳精致，内容多写闺情。其词艺术成就在晚唐诸词人之上，为“花间派”首要词人，对词的发展影响较大。在词史上，与韦庄齐名，并称“温韦”。存词七十余首。后人辑有《温飞卿集》及《金奁集》。
