译文
我来到秋浦（池州）正是秋季，初游池州，却宛如梦中重来，游历故地；
自然风景不能偿付诗酒之债，古今的诗人总是借山水来抒发他们的忧愁；
谪仙李白曾在颠吟寺赋诗狂饮，小杜杜牧曾在冶思楼怡情自乐；
问附近的州民是否知道李白和杜牧，他们全然不认识，齐山依旧笼罩在寒流之中。

秋浦：秋浦，地名，唐天宝年间改州为郡，池州改名为秋浦郡。另有县名，河名。今安徽省池州市。
小杜：杜牧。
宿池州齐山寺，即杜牧之九日登高处鉴赏
这首诗编在《江东集》，是作者在建康任江东转运副使期间出行今皖南一带时所作。池州，今安徽贵池县，唐代诗人杜牧曾于其地任刺史，作《九日齐山登高》诗，诗题中“齐山寺”，当即后世为纪念杜枚而建。
起联点明来秋浦(即池州)的时间和自己对这里的向往。首句叠用“秋”字，格调清爽流利，表现出轻松喜悦的心情；次句说自己早就向往秋浦，魂梦中曾到此地；这次来到池州，宛如梦中重来，游历故地了。以实为梦，以新游为旧游，写出对此地的亲切感情。
风月，指自然风景，与下句“江山”对文义近。颔联就池州美好的江山风月抒发感慨。出句说这里的自然胜景老是不能偿付诗酒之债，言下之意是，诗人们为这里的美好景物所吸引，经常把它作为灵感的源泉和诗材的渊薮，以致供不应求。本来是平常的意思，用这样的方式表达，便倍觉新颖而隽永。对句说，此间壮美的江山，古往今来，长久地牵系着诗人有感于国运盛衰、人事代谢的愁怀。说“长管”，正见盛衰代谢的古今相续。这一联将江山风月与古今人事相联系，有风景不殊而人事已非之感，于是引出下一联。
“谪仙狂饮颜颠吟寺，小杜倡情冶思楼。”颈联承上“诗酒”，分咏李白、杜收在池州活动的两处遗迹。被称为谪仙人的李白以豪饮著称，他曾到过池州，作有《秋浦歌十七首》诸作；杜枚作过池州刺史，他的生活放荡不羁，多有抒写艳情之作，故说“倡情”。两句是说，李谪仙往年狂饮之处，后来建造了颠吟寺，杜牧之昔日冶游之处，后来建造了冶思楼。这一联概括池州胜迹，造语工巧而自然。
两位大诗人当日的文采风流，如今问起当地州民，竟浑然不晓，只有那诗人登临过的齐山，依旧俯视着寒流。春秋时，齐景公曾登牛山，北望临淄，想到人生难免一死，不由泣下沾襟。杜牧生性旷达，反其意而作《九日齐山登高》，说:“古往今来只如此，牛山何必泪沾衣！”而今，登齐山的古人固然长已矣，即便是他们身后之名，也已寂然。可见，不仅“千秋万岁名，寂寞身后事”，而且死后之名是否能“千秋万岁”，也大为靠不住。此联暗用杜牧诗意，翻进一层，一结苍茫悠远。
