译文
天宇广阔，白云高浮，清溪在前，流水去远，傍晚的太阳在寒冷的空气中蒙上一层轻晕。无人的台阶静悄悄地，杨花也逐渐稀少了。大红门关闭着，黄莺的叫声听去还很稚嫩。我后悔匆匆忙忙地就让清明节过去了，便赶紧去观赏余留下来的花朵，但也已经成了内心的憾恨。却又接连好几天天气都阴沉沉的，从白天到夜晚，人都感到懒洋洋的，十分倦困，等我再起来去看，大好春光都已完结了。
怨恨进入双眉，眉头总是紧蹙，只是白白地折磨自己。我忽然对这种情怀有所领悟，仔细想来，还十分亲切。人们深深地表示失望，无非是自己有所期求；懒懒地精神不振，必不好意思被人追问。你哪里知道只有幻梦里才有蓬莱仙境，等到把你留恋的一点余香都忘个干净，自然会时时传给你美好的音信。否则你即使能留得住黄莺和鲜花，只要东风不停，也依然会让你的眼前充满愁绪和烦闷。
注释
金明池：秦观创调，词咏汴京金明池，故取以为名。另作“夏云峰”，并题日：“伤春”。有人认为“伤春”之题可能并不太符合原作意，应是后人所加。
溪横：溪水横在眼前。
轻晕：指淡淡的光圈。
朱门：红颜色的门。
旋：很快的、不久。
宵：夜。连宵：从白天到晚上。慵困：懒散困倦。
韶华：美好的时光，这里指代无限春光。
闲斗损：空对煞。损：甚，十分的意思。意谓终日双眉紧锁。
乍：恰、正当。看承：特别看待。全近：非常亲近。全，副词，甚或很的意思。
深深态：深深失望的样子。自许：自我有期许。
厌厌：通“恹恹”。精神不振的样子。
争知道：即怎知道。蓬莱：喻仙境，指与恋人相会处。
也则：依然。

金明池·天阔云高鉴赏
通常认为这首词为伤春之作。惜春伤春是历代词的传统题材，留下的佳篇汗牛充栋，僧挥的这首《金明池》即为其一，被选编进《宋词三百首》。全词基调哀婉，上片主描景，下片主抒情，行文多有绮语；而作者又为僧人，词作别有一种情趣。
“天阔云高，溪横水远，晚日寒生轻晕”，上片首句一气连用了三个境界开阔的短句，一反伤春词细腻入文的模式，起笔突崛。三个远景，如果只从单个分开细看，纯粹只显豪阔苍远的境界，于伤春主题并不切合，但一经组合排列，哀氛就透过词句四处弥漫，奠定了全词“伤”的基调。起笔突崛而又不显唐突、违拗，且自有新意，正是这首词入文的妙处。
“闲阶静、杨花渐少，朱门掩、莺声犹嫩”，这是近景，与首句远近结合，成一画境。首句奠定了词意的气氛基调，但并不能判断句中所描绘的是什么时间季节，这第二句作者点明了是暮春时节。“闲阶静，杨花少，朱门掩”，是目之所及的视觉感受，莺声嫩则为听觉感受，这几个“冷色调”意象的有机叠砌，予人幽深、凄切的感觉。然而，作者并未让这些意象营造的感觉如滔滔江水一放到底，一览无遗，而是且放且收，“莺声犹嫩”，一个“犹”字，恰如其分地把前头的表达“收”了起来。但不是单为了收而收，是为了接下去能更好地放。虽然莺声“犹”嫩，但也不能再“嫩”很长日子了。
“悔匆匆、过却清明，旋占得馀芳，已成幽恨”，此句既是前面景的描绘后的情的流露，也是“莺声犹嫩”收了之后的续放。时光易流，一过了清明，各种各样的花儿，就都陆续委地凋谢了，丛中和枝头只疏疏落落地留了一点儿残英。到这时，莺声已老，不再嫩了；可见“犹”得短暂、无奈。“却几日阴沉，连宵慵困，起来韶华都尽”，这句是接前句的深延。几天前还有若有若无的遗留的花儿，可忽忽几日，稍没注意，一下子就只剩满目绿肥，些许瘦红也难觅了。
上片主描景，景中时也露情，下片主抒情，全为伤春心事。“怨入双眉闲斗损，乍品得情怀，看承全近”，写的是春愁怨情。怨入双眉，思量甚苦，皆因春去无情。“深深态、无非自许，厌厌意、终羞人问”，写的是怨态，情动于衷而形于表。因春去而心怨，因心怨而神形缱绻。“深深态”两句是女子自怜自爱、自怨自艾的情态，大有美人惜春迟暮之感。“深深态”和“厌厌意”二词运用对比，将女子愁绪满怀的怨态和因春去精神萎靡的无力之状形象描写出来，读之令人感同身受，心怀大动。【4】
末句“纵留得莺花，东风不住，也则眼前愁闷”是全词最堪回味处。心怨源于春逝，这里却说即使莺声和花香留住了，仍还是愁绪难遣。原来春去仅是引子，最伤心处，并非春天美景消逝，而是时间老去人老去——春天可以再来，人却难以再少。无言之伤，尽在其中矣。
此首伤春之词，却出自诗僧笔下，可见其性情坦荡，不拘礼法。上片阶静门掩，美人春睡。杨花渐少，莺声犹嫩，正是暮春景象。睡起方识春色已阑，幽恨遂油然而生。下片因惜眷而自怜，因伤春而厌厌。这首词把年轻女子的多情与娇羞写得十分动人，她有些慵懒，有些感伤，有些哀怨，也有些甜蜜。一个感情真挚、热烈而又羞涩矜持的女性形象跃然于纸上。【1】 【5】
有观点认为下阕以“怨入双眉闲斗损”句过片，承上阕末意，也补足了人对春光去尽的反映。一“闲”字、一“损”字，暗暗透露作者对这种伤春怨情的保留态度。以下渐渐转出真意：先用“乍品得”二句过渡，语极委婉。这两句真像耐心布道者的口吻。“深深态”二句，又忽作狮子吼，将悔憾怨恨种种情怀之实质一语道破：自我期许太多，就难免不深深作态；羞于向人吐露，才必定会恹恹不振。“怎知道”以下又如佛手指点迷津。从正反两面说去：想闻得好“音信”，关键在于“忘了余香”，不必有所留恋，这是从正面说；若总想“留得莺花”，执迷不悟，那只会招来“愁闷”，自堕苦海，这是从反面说。禅理而能入词，又说得如此有诗趣、理趣，实属不易。

北宋僧人、词人。字师利。安州（今湖北安陆）人。本姓张，名挥，仲殊为其法号。曾应进士科考试。生卒年不详。年轻时游荡不羁，几乎被妻子毒死，弃家为僧，先后寓居苏州承天寺、杭州宝月寺，因时常食蜜以解毒，人称蜜殊；或又用其俗名称他为僧挥。他与苏轼往来甚厚。徽宗崇宁年间自缢而死。
