王翱一女，嫁于畿辅某官为妻。公夫人甚爱女，每迎女，婿固不遣。恚而语妻曰：“而翁长铨，迁我京职，则汝朝夕侍母；且迁我如振落叶耳，而何吝者？”女寄言于母。夫人一夕置酒，跪白公。公大怒，取案上器击伤夫人，出，驾而宿于朝房，旬乃还第。婿竟不调。

译文
王翱的一个女儿，嫁给京城附近的一个官员为妻。王翱的夫人非常疼爱女儿，每次要女儿回家，女婿坚持不放走。他愤怒地对妻子说：“你的父亲是选拔官吏的长官，把我调到京城做官，那么你可以整天陪侍你的母亲。况且调动我轻易得就像振落树叶，有什么可吝啬的呢？”于是女儿将想法告诉了母亲，夫人在当天准备了酒菜，跪着禀告王翱，王翱非常生气，拿起几案上的器具打伤了夫人，出门去，坐马车住到朝房里，十天后才回家，女婿最终没有被调职。

王翱（1384－1467）明代大臣，字九皋，出生于今河北省沧州市盐山县王帽圈村。永乐十三年进士，授大理寺左寺正，左迁行人，宣德初擢御史，英宗即位，升右佥都御史，出镇江西，惩贪治奸，七年冬督辽东军务，景泰四年为吏部尚书，天顺间续任，为英宗所重，称先生而不呼其名。王翱一生历仕七朝，辅佐六帝，刚明廉直，卒谥“忠肃”。
