康熙十五年，余姚有客山行，夜宿山神寺。夜半，有虎跪拜，作人言，乞食，神以邓樵夫许之。明晨，客伺于神祠外，果见一樵夫过之，逆谓曰：“子邓姓乎？”曰：“然。”因告以夜所闻见，戒勿往。邓曰：“吾有母，仰食于樵。一日不樵，母且饥。死生命也，吾何畏哉？”遂去不顾，客随而觇之。樵甫采樵，虎突出从竹间。樵手搏数合，持虎尾盘旋久之。虎不胜愤，乃震哮一跃，负痛遁去，樵逐而杀之。客逆劳之。樵曰：“感君高义，盍导我至庙中。”既至，大诟死虎斥神曰：“今竟如何？”遂碎其土偶。
樵夫毁山神译文及注释
译文
康熙十五年，余姚县有个外地人在山中赶路，夜里住在山神寺。半夜，有只老虎来向山神跪拜，说着像人一样的话语，乞求山神赐给它食物。山神答应把邓樵夫给他。第二天早上，客人等待在庙外，果然看见一个樵夫经过，迎上去问：“您姓邓吗？”樵夫回答说：“是的。”客人就告诉他晚上听到的事情，告诫他不要前往。邓樵夫说：“我有母亲，靠砍柴为生，一天不打柴，母亲就会饿肚子。生死都是命中注定的，我有什么可害怕的！”就头也不回的走了。客人尾随他偷偷地看。邓樵夫刚刚打上柴，老虎突然从竹林间窜出，邓樵夫徒手与它搏斗了几个回合，抓住老虎的尾巴转了很久。老虎很愤怒，于是咆哮着高高跳起，忍痛逃跑。邓樵夫追上去将它杀了。客人上前慰劳他，邓樵夫说：“感谢你深厚的情义，何不带我到庙中去？”到了庙里，邓樵夫大骂死虎并斥责山神说：“现在怎么样呢？”于是就将泥塑的山神砸碎了。
