南顿张助于田中植禾，见李核，欲持去，顾见空桑中有土，因植种，以余浆灌溉，后人见桑中复生李，转相告语。有病目痛者息阴下，言：“李君令我目愈，谢以一豚。”目痛乃小疾，亦行自愈。闻者传语：“盲者得视。”众犬吠声，远近翕赫，其下车骑常数千百，酒肉滂沱。间一岁余，张助远出来还，见之惊云：“此有何神，乃我所种耳。”因就斫之。

译文
南顿有个叫张助的人，在田里种庄稼时发现一颗李子的核，本想拿走，回头看见空心的桑洞里有泥土，就把李核种在那里，用剩下的水浇了一些。后来，有人看见桑树中又长出李树来，对此感到十分惊奇，就互相传说开来。
正好有个眼睛患有小毛病的人，在李树下休息，向李树祷告说：“李树您如果能让我的眼睛变好，我就把小猪献给您。”眼痛这种小病，不久就会康复。众人随声传闻，李树因为能使瞎了的人可以看见，所以远近闻名。而远近的人听到这消息都很轰动，那树下常有数千辆马车，大家纷纷前来敬祭，酒肉很多，绵绵不断。
时隔一年，张助出远门回来，看见这景象十分惊诧，说：“这哪有什么神仙？这是我种的李树啊。”于是砍掉了它。

南顿：古县名，在今河南项城市。
欲：想要。
去：离开。
顾：回头看。
空桑：枯空的桑树，老桑树有枯空的树洞。
因：于是，就。
以余浆：用多余的水。以：用。
李君：李先生。此指空桑里长出的李树。
豚：小猪 谢以一豚：用一只小猪拜谢。
亦行自愈：自己也会逐渐痊愈。亦，也。愈，病好了，此指痊愈。行，不久。
众犬吠声：是“一犬吠形，百犬吠声”的省略，意思：一只狗叫，其他的狗也跟着叫起来。形容众人盲目附和，众人随声传闻。
得：能够。
翕赫：此指轰动、惊动。翕：聚集。赫：盛貌。
滂沱：原来形容雨很大。这里形容酒肉多而不断。
间：事隔。
就斫：跑去砍了。就，接近。斫，砍。
