明有陆庐峰者，于京城待用。尝于市遇一佳砚，议价未定。既还邸，使门人往，以一金易归。门人持砚归，公讶其不类。门人坚称其是。公曰：“向观砚有鸲鹆眼，今何无之？”答曰：“吾嫌其微凸，路值石工，幸有余银，令磨而平之。”公大惋惜。
砚眼译文及注释
译文
明朝有一位叫陆庐峰的人，在京城等待（朝廷）任用。（他）曾经在集市上遇到一块上好的砚台，价格有争议没有定。已经到了府邸之后，让仆人前往，用一两银子把砚台买回来。仆人拿着砚台回来了，陆庐峰觉得它不像原来的砚台而感到惊讶。仆人坚持说就是这个砚台。陆庐峰说：“先前的砚台有个‘八哥眼’，为什么现在没有了？”仆人回答说：“我嫌弃它有一点凸，路上正好遇见石工，幸亏有剩余的银两，叫他打磨一下使它平整了。”陆庐峰十分惋惜。这个砚台的价值就在于这个"八哥眼"。

冯梦龙（1574－1646），明代文学家、戏曲家。字犹龙，又字子犹，号龙子犹、墨憨斋主人、顾曲散人、吴下词奴、姑苏词奴、前周柱史等。汉族，南直隶苏州府长洲县（今江苏省苏州市）人，出身士大夫家庭。兄梦桂，善画。弟梦熊，太学生，曾从冯梦龙治《春秋》，有诗传世。他们兄弟三人并称“吴下三冯”。
