译文
西汉和东汉本来就是承接关系，中间却多出来个新朝，就像是人身上长了个无用的肉瘤一样。
所以才有嵇康这样唱着广陵散慷慨赴死的英雄，他在临时前写文章批责那些不遵守法纪纲常的人。
注释
继绍：承传。
新室：西汉末年，王莽建立的新朝。
赘（zhuì）疣（yóu）：赘：多余。疣：肉瘤。形容累赘无用之物。
嵇（jī）中散：三国时魏人嵇康在临死前所弹奏的曲子。稽康，宇叔夜，三国时期魏国谯郡铚县（今安徽省濉溪县临涣镇）人，拜中散大夫不就，人称稽中散。嵇康丰姿俊逸，放达不羁，与阮籍、山涛、向秀、刘伶、阮威、王戎合称“竹林七贤”。有《嵇康集》传世。
至死薄殷周：嵇康的朋友山涛任吏部郎迁散骑常侍后，向司马氏推举嵇康担任他的旧职。嵇康身为曹魏宗室，不齿山涛依附于司马氏的行为，于是遂与之绝交，并作《与山巨源绝交书》。其中有言：每非汤武而薄周孔。薄：鄙薄，瞧不起。殷周，指殷汤王和周武王，二人分别建立了商朝和周朝。

咏史创作背景
李清照生活在北宋与南宋的交替时期，当时的南宋朝庭充斥着投降主义思想，很多达官贵人不思收复失地，为国出力。他们贪图安逸、偏安一隅。国家的更替对他们来说不过是换了一个为官的地方，他们毫无廉耻的接着当他们的官，享受荣华富贵，对国家的兴亡混不在意。

李清照（1084年3月13日～1155年5月12日）号易安居士，汉族，山东省济南章丘人。宋代（南北宋之交）女词人，婉约词派代表，有“千古第一才女”之称。所作词，前期多写其悠闲生活，后期多悲叹身世，情调感伤。形式上善用白描手法，自辟途径，语言清丽。论词强调协律，崇尚典雅，提出词“别是一家”之说，反对以作诗文之法作词。能诗，留存不多，部分篇章感时咏史，情辞慷慨，与其词风不同。有《易安居士文集》《易安词》，已散佚。后人有《漱玉词》辑本。今有《李清照集校注》。
