译文
一个五十多岁的老头戴上一朵鲜艳的牡丹花自己并不感到难为情。牡丹花因为被插在老人头上而感到难为情。
赏花饮酒，沉醉归来，引得路人哄笑。十里长街，珠帘上卷，百姓们争看这位放荡不羁、走起路来东倒西歪的太守。

吉祥寺：寺名，在今浙江省杭州市。
簪（zān）花：在头上插花、戴花。
羞：难为情。
扶：搀扶。
珠帘：珍珠缀成的帘子。
半上钩：帘子全部卷起来。
吉祥寺赏牡丹创作背景
宋熙宁五年（1071年）五月二十三日，时任杭州通判的苏轼跟随知州沈立去吉祥寺僧人守璘的花园中集会赏牡丹，赏花第二天沈大人向众人展出十卷《牡丹亭》，苏轼看到赏花画面的壮观、恢弘的书籍以及与诸位市民一同游玩的快乐有感而写下这首《吉祥寺赏牡丹》。

吉祥寺赏牡丹鉴赏
此诗即是当时记实之作，表现了观赏牡丹的热烈场面和诗人簪花的情趣。
第一、二两句是写诗人簪花之趣。虽说当时礼俗士大夫集会时可以簪花，但老人簪着花成群结队走在街市上，终觉有些不好意思。为了突出这种心态，作者掀起一道波澜，“花应羞上老人头”，说花不愿上老人的头。而事实是，不管花愿意与否，还是上了老人的头，增添了不少情趣。两个“羞”字，一说人，一说花，相映成趣，语妙天下。同时说明包括诗人在内的官吏最终还是乐于在百姓面前亮相的。花活了，人更活。从而进一步缩小了官民距离，更有意义。
第三、四两句是写诗人醉归而路人嗤笑的场景。这里诗人恰当地用了杜牧之诗：“春风十里扬州路，卷上珠帘总不如。”十里街市上的老百姓把帘卷上，走出门来观看这支浩荡的插花队伍的经过，只需要点出这一点，当时盛况就好像在眼前。于是，官民同乐的主题也就圆满地表现出来了。诗人之所以在珠帘上钩时用“半”字，是因为作诗需要留有余地，给读者以想像空间，说全上钩，而诗贵活。
前后联均暗用前人句意，用得贴切灵活，不着痕迹，如同已出。“人”、“花”、“老”、“羞”四字有意重复使用，更使诗的音节回环往复，有助于
这首诗运用夸张、拟人修辞手法并且连用几个动词，有利于渲染出一种喜剧情调氛围，体现了诗人极高的文学造诣。表现出诗人超矿豁达、狂放不羁的襟怀。在这种超然物外的旷达态度背后，我们不难领略到诗人对人生、对美好事物的执着追求。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
