译文
我不像道士那样去炼金丹以追求人生不老，也不像和尚那样去坐禅；
我不去做商人，也不做农夫去耕田。
空闲的时候我就画一些画去卖，
不用那些人世间作孽得来的钱。
注释
金丹：古代方士用黄金、丹砂等炼成的药物。坐禅：指佛家教徒静坐潜修领悟教义。
商贾（gǔ）：经商。耕田：务农。
写就青山：绘画。
造孽钱：“造孽”本作“造业”，乃佛教用语，即要遭报应的作恶。“造孽钱”即来路不正的钱。
言志创作背景
唐伯虎于明孝宗弘治十二年（1499年）因参与泄题事件，被弘治皇帝革去功名，案情查实，被安排去浙江做一名小吏，唐伯虎表示“士也可杀，不能再辱”，断然予以拒绝回家。回到家里，却遭到了家人的白眼，为此唐伯虎与兄弟分家。于是在唐伯虎后半生二十余年时光，虽然功名未就，但自适的志趣，卖书画为生的生活方式，给他带来了人格的独立，故有感做此诗向世人言志。

言志鉴赏
这诗表白了作者自鸣清高的处世态度。“不使人间造孽钱”的正气，是令人称赞的。但此诗又容易使人误会为“商贾”、“耕田”的劳动所得也都是“造孽钱”了。
“不炼金丹不坐禅，不为商贾不耕田。”前二句一连用了四个“不”，写诗人在摒弃功名利禄之后的有所不为。“不炼金丹不坐禅”，即不学道，不求佛。唐伯虎是一个不肯趋炎附势，但又并不放弃世俗生活快乐的漂泊者，读者对他“高楼大叫秋觞月，深幄微酣夜拥花”的放浪形骸的生活方式不妨批判，但对其作为封建礼教的叛逆者那点精神是应予肯定的。“不炼金丹不坐禅”，大有“子不语怪力乱神”意味。“不为商贾不耕田”，则是不事人间产业。“不为商贾”是不屑为；“不耕田”是不能为，即孔夫子所谓“吾不如老农”、“吾不如老圃”也。四个“不”一气贯注。语极痛快干脆。
“闲来就写青山卖，不使人间造孽钱！”唐伯虎可以自居的头衔是画家，其画与祝允明、文徵明齐名。他不慕荣华，不耻贫贱，以鬻文卖画、自食其力为荣。“闲来就写青山卖”是非常值得敬佩的，这是从事精神财富的创造者应有的豪言壮语，能“写青山”而“卖”之，自有可参造化之笔，此为实话，亦自负语。假清高的人往往以卖画讨润笔为可羞，殊不知这是卖知识产权，和写文章“拿稿酬”一样的天经地义。所以作者敢于大呼：“谁来买我画中山！”这样挣来的钱花着舒心。由此，诗人又反跌一意：“不使人间造孽钱！”这一笔尤其显得豪迈。一竹竿打一船人，一切的巧取豪夺、贪污受贿、投机倒把、偷盗抢劫、诈骗赌博……而获得的非法收入，得之即“造孽”，花之亦“造孽”，“不是不报，时候未到”而已。此句足使人深长思之。

唐寅（1470—1523），字伯虎，一字子畏，号六如居士、桃花庵主、鲁国唐生、逃禅仙吏等，汉族，南直隶苏州吴县人。明代著名画家、文学家。据传他于明宪宗成化六年庚寅年寅月寅日寅时生。他玩世不恭而又才气横溢，诗文擅名，与祝允明、文征明、徐祯卿并称“江南四大才子（吴门四才子）”，画名更著，与沈周、文征明、仇英并称“吴门四家”。
