译文
南宫内苑，东墙路旁，那是天子走过的地方。温柔的柳丝已知春的来临，又吐出嫩绿，泛起鹅黄。
杏花也在含情相望，羞红的脸上又有几分彷徨。为什么行人不解杏花的情意，却独爱柳丝只为它愁伤断肠。
注释
杨柳枝：原为乐府曲名，后变为宫词，又演变为词牌名。又作“杨柳”。《碧鸡漫志》入“黄钟商”。单调二十八字，四句三平韵。
南内：天子的宫禁叫“大内”，简称“内”。墙：一作“桥”。御路：皇宫内的道路。傍（páng）：同“旁”，旁边，侧边。
须，一作“预”。丝，一作“枝”。
何事：何用，何须。行：一作“情”。

杨柳八首·其二创作背景
这首词约作于唐文宗大和（827—835）、开成（836—840）年间。温庭筠的《杨柳枝》和许多新创的词调一样，既是词牌的名称，也是题目。像《杨柳枝》这样形式的歌词，和《竹枝词》《凉州词》等一样，只有在倚声歌唱时才有区别，作为书面文字，它与七绝略无不同。

杨柳八首·其二鉴赏
温庭筠的八首《杨柳枝》描写的都是宫苑边的杨柳。这一首写的是春柳杏花之中，行人所触发的伤别之情。
前两句明写柳，而由柳触发起的别情却隐含其中。“南内墙东御路旁”一句，暗切杨柳。“须知春色柳丝黄”一句，明写柳色，柳丝嫩黄，置于绿的春色中，愈显娇美动人。此句似从李白诗句“春从柳上归”和“柳色黄金嫩”化出，为后两句张本。
后两句以报春的杏花之有情相衬，写行人仍然对柳最伤情，将别情点破。“杏花未肯无情思”，用杏花与柳枝对比，推进一层，说明杏花亦能含情。“何事行人最断肠”一句是写行人在杏花柳色之中，而最引人伤别的，还是柳枝，这就把柳色春思更推进了一层。最后一句用疑问语气，又未直接写柳，但因柳寓含情感，柳的艺术魁力，已在其中。
以往写离情的诗词通常借柳起兴，或见柳生情，而此词写行人离情虽然也是因柳而起，但中间以杏花相衬，于比较中将柳之牵动人情写深了一层。如此构思颇有新意，更耐寻味，堪称精妙。

温庭筠（约812—866）唐代诗人、词人。本名岐，字飞卿，太原祁（今山西祁县东南）人。富有天才，文思敏捷，每入试，押官韵，八叉手而成八韵，所以也有“温八叉”之称。然恃才不羁，又好讥刺权贵，多犯忌讳，取憎于时，故屡举进士不第，长被贬抑，终生不得志。官终国子助教。精通音律。工诗，与李商隐齐名，时称“温李”。其诗辞藻华丽，秾艳精致，内容多写闺情。其词艺术成就在晚唐诸词人之上，为“花间派”首要词人，对词的发展影响较大。在词史上，与韦庄齐名，并称“温韦”。存词七十余首。后人辑有《温飞卿集》及《金奁集》。
