译文
一树梅花长在背阴的山谷，加上枝条伸向北方，阳光终年罕至，所以每年开花总是比较迟。
但你可知道它那高尚的气节、优美的风度？要知道，当它吐苞，正是那冰雪覆盖、最为严酷的寒冬时节啊！
注释
幽谷：深幽的山谷。北枝：北向不朝阳的树枝。
自分（fèn）：自己料定。著花：开花。
高标逸韵：高尚的气格，俊逸的风韵。标，标格，风度、气概之意。
梅花绝句·其二创作背景
嘉泰二年（1202）一月，陆游退居故乡山阴时所作，陆游时年七十八岁。作者已被罢官归园田居十二年陆游爱花，特别喜爱梅花。此时北宋灭国，陆游处于政治势力的边缘，资历不高，又力主北伐，长时间得不到当权派的重用，但他的心中确实仍有期待。当作者看到梅花有感而发。

梅花绝句·其二鉴赏
这实际是一首标准的况物自比的咏梅诗。
陆游是南宋著名的爱国诗人，文武双全，年轻时意气风发，曾有一首词自赞：“人误许，诗情将略，一时才气超然。”北宋灭国，是陆游一生中永远的痛，他一怀忠贞，念念不忘北伐，但一直得不到南宋小朝廷的重用，直至死去，中国人都熟悉他“王师北定中原日，家祭无望告乃翁”的诗句，这首诗所表达的情绪也是相通的，反应的是在诗人特有的政治处境下，心念复国，若有所待，非常幽微，非常复杂的心理状态。
从诗比较明朗的格调上看，这应是陆游中年时期的作品，当时的政治空气应该是，偏安势力牢牢控制政局，北伐派的处境至为严酷。
“幽谷那堪更北枝，年年自分着花迟。”说的是诗人自忖处于政治势力的边缘，资历不高，又力主北伐，长时间得不到当权派的重用是自然的事。
但是，他的心中确实仍有期待。年复一年的等待并没让他感觉到绝望，“自分”二字准确地传达出了他的这种心态。
要知道，在当时的氛围中，能保持这样比较舒解，比较积极的心态并不容易！
就像这眼前大雪覆盖，依然含苞待放的梅花一样——你可能理解到，那雪中咏诗之人的高标逸韵？……
浓烈的诗情画意，夹杂着无法言说的身世之感，虚实相照，浑然一体，烘托出一种清逸深幽的特殊美感。这是中国古典诗歌的惯有风格，也是我们的祖先奉献给世界文学宝库的一份独到财产。

陆游（1125—1210），字务观，号放翁。汉族，越州山阴（今浙江绍兴）人，南宋著名诗人。少时受家庭爱国思想熏陶，高宗时应礼部试，为秦桧所黜。孝宗时赐进士出身。中年入蜀，投身军旅生活，官至宝章阁待制。晚年退居家乡。创作诗歌今存九千多首，内容极为丰富。著有《剑南诗稿》、《渭南文集》、《南唐书》、《老学庵笔记》等。
