沁园春·情若连环创作背景
这首词选自明朝万历刊《重编东坡先生外传》卷八十三，《全宋词》未录。是北宋词人苏轼于早期所作，为描写古代女子思恋情人的闺情词。

沁园春·情若连环鉴赏
整首词善于铺叙，在有条理、有层次的铺叙之后，突然插入一笔，由一方设想另一方，构成“照花前后镜，花面交相映”的妙境。
上片首句“情若连环，恨如流水”，起调是一组并列对句，以连环、流水为比，说此“情”、此“恨”不断无休。接着以一组扇面对句，说相思的具体情状。依律，这组扇面对句，当以一领格字提起，此处连用两个“也”字，用以铺排叙说，一曰瘦，有如宛约一般，腰围减损，再曰鬓发斑白，有如潘岳一般，因见二毛而发愁。“总是”二句，却以散句入词，接下句，均为直说，点明上文所说“瘦”与“愁”的原因，是“好事教人不自由”。“好事”，当指男女间欢会等情事。因为时时刻刻惦记着这许多情事，无法自主，所以才有这无穷无尽的“情”与“恨”。最后，词进一步点明，主人公所“追想”的“好事”就是“前欢”与“后会”，前欢已是杳无踪迹，不可追寻，而后会又遥遥无期，难以预卜。“杳杳”、“悠悠”，与“连环”、“流水”相呼应，将所谓“情”与“恨”更加具体化。上片说的全是主人公一方面的相思情况。
下片变换了角度与方位，既写主人公一方，又写对方，并将双方合一起写。“凝眸。悔上层楼。谩惹起新愁压旧愁。”是过片。一方面承接上片所说相思情景，谓怕上层楼，即害怕追想往事，惹起“旧愁”；一方面启下，转说当前的相思情景，新愁与旧愁交织一起。词作说当前的相思情景，先说主人公一方，说主人公如何写情书，写好情书如何密封，封好以后如何秘密投寄“重重”，谓其密封程度，“密”，既有秘密之意，又表明数量之多，一封接一封，相距甚密。同时，词人说相思，还兼顾对方，料想对方接到情书，当如何时时开看，“一看一回和泪收”。“料”字明谓假设。至此词戛然而止，言已尽而味有余。
这首词以铺叙手法说相思，反反复复地说，虽只是“相思”二字，却并不单调乏味。能有这样的艺术效果，除了真切体验之外，还在于善铺叙。作者善铺叙，就是在有条理、有层次的铺叙之后，突然插入一笔，由一方设想另一方，构成“照花前后镜，花面交相映”的妙境。这种作法是从柳永词中学得来的。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
